Our commitment
Glo Media builds and runs websites for beauty businesses, and we hold our own site to the same standard we sell. We want anyone to be able to read it, use the contact form and send us a message, whatever they browse with.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Under the Equality Act 2010 we also have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not disadvantaged when using our website, and we take that seriously.
How this site performs
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We have no known failures against Level AA, but we have not yet completed a full manual audit with every assistive technology on every page, so we describe the site as partially conformant rather than claiming full conformance. The one exception we do know about is set out under "Known limitations" below.
What we test:
- An automated axe-core audit of every page, against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rule sets.
- The whole site by keyboard alone, with no mouse.
- Colour contrast measured on every text and interface colour pair, not eyeballed.
- Both a phone and a desktop viewport, and the mobile menu and forms at both sizes.
What the site does to help
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page for keyboard users.
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Focused elements are never hidden behind anything else (WCAG 2.4.11).
- Text and interface colours meet WCAG AA: at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and controls. Each pair is measured and recorded before it is used.
- Links inside a block of text are underlined, so they are not identified by colour alone (WCAG 1.4.1).
- Every form field has a visible, associated label, plus
autocompletehints so browsers and password managers can fill them in. - Form errors are announced to screen readers and describe what to do next, rather than relying on colour to show the problem.
- Images have descriptive
alttext. The before-and-after image comparison on the homepage describes both states in text, and is operable by keyboard using the arrow keys. - Headings are used in a logical order and the page is built on semantic landmark regions (
header, nav, main, footer). - The page language is declared (
lang="en-GB"). - Interactive elements meet the minimum touch target size (WCAG 2.5.8), so they are usable on a phone.
- Animation is suppressed for anyone who has asked their device to reduce motion.
- No autoplaying media, no carousels and no time limits anywhere on the site.
Known limitations
We are aware of one area that we do not fully control:
- The anti-bot check on the contact form. To keep spam out, the contact form runs a Cloudflare Turnstile check. It is drawn in an interface provided by Cloudflare inside our page, and we cannot change how it behaves or how it is announced. Cloudflare designs Turnstile to be accessible, and we have chosen it partly for that reason, but we cannot guarantee it. If the check stops you sending a message, email us instead and we will deal with it directly.
Technical information
Glo Media relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.2:
- HTML5
- CSS (including ARIA roles and landmark regions)
- JavaScript, used for the mobile navigation, the before-and-after image comparison and the anti-bot check described above
These technologies are relied upon for conformance. If JavaScript is unavailable the site still works: every page, every link and the contact form all function without it.
Feedback and contact
If anything on this site gets in your way, we would like to hear about it - it is the fastest way for us to fix it. Tell us the page and what happened:
- Email: office@glo.media
We aim to reply to accessibility feedback within 5 working days, and to fix the issue or offer you the information in another format within 30 days. If you need something on this site in a different format - a larger-text version, a plain-text document, or a phone call instead of a web page - just ask.
